NEW YORK – March 30, 2022 – BlocPower, a leading national climate tech company focused on greening aging urban buildings, announced today that it was named to the second annual TIME100 Most Influential Companies list highlighting companies making an extraordinary impact around the world. The full list of companies can be found here.

To assemble the list, TIME solicited nominations from every sector—ranging from health care and entertainment to transportation and technology—from our editors and correspondents around the world, as well as from industry experts. Then, TIME editors evaluated each one on key factors, including relevance, impact, innovation, leadership and success.

“We are extremely excited  to be recognized by TIME – one of the world’s most respected publications – as a top company making an impact,” said Donnel Baird, CEO of BlocPower.

BlocPower is fighting climate change through greening buildings and making it easier and affordable for regular Americans to upgrade to a smarter, healthier, more comfortable, all-electric home. Climate change is the fight of our generation. We are glad that BlocPower’s inclusion on the TIME100 list will help send a clear signal that the time to make all American buildings all electric is NOW.

BlocPower has retrofitted more than 1,200 buildings in more than 25 American cities, replacing unhealthy, fossil fuel-burning heating and cooling systems with clean, efficient, all-electric air source heat pumps, water heaters and solar panels. It leverages advanced technologies to monitor energy consumption, digitally simulate the most impactful green energy solutions, and dramatically lower the cost of construction and installation.

In November 2021, BlocPower announced it would retrofit all of Ithaca’s building stock – more than 6,000 buildings by 2030 – making it the first large-scale, city-wide electrification initiative in the U.S. The company is in discussions with numerous other cities about comparable decarbonization initiatives.

To support these and other projects, BlocPower launched a Civilian Climate Corps to hire and train the next generation green workforce from communities adversely impacted by gun violence, supporting them secure good paying jobs, career opportunities and hope for a better future.
